Staying Safe at CU Boulder

The National Order of the Arrow Conference is unique in that it takes place on a college campus. Safety is key to a great NOAC.

To help you Seek New Heights safely, the NOAC 2024 Security Team, led by Lead Adviser Marc Poulin, offers these pointers:

      • Have your NOAC 2024 credential, room key, and cell phone on you at all times. The credential in particular is needed to access NOAC events like the evening shows.

      • All Scouting America Youth Protection and Guide to Safe Scouting policies are in effect. Contingent leadership is expected to support these policies while at NOAC and traveling.

      • Use the buddy system any time you’re separated from your contingent or a large crowd of Arrowmen.

      • Only use illuminated, marked walkways when traversing campus. Don’t cut through grassy areas.

      • Download the NOAC 2024 app for safety notifications throughout the conference. If you’re lost, it will also have a map to help you get directions to where you need to be.

      • Adhere to the prohibited items list for the CU Events Center for the evening shows. Security cannot watch over these items for you, so you will be asked to return any prohibited item to your dorm or otherwise dispose of it before you are allowed entry.

      • The City of Boulder, CO, has a curfew for anyone under 16. Arrowmen under 16 must be in their dorms between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.

      • If you get locked out of your dorm room, contact your CU Boulder residence hall staff. NOAC Security cannot let you into your dorm room.

      • Drink plenty of water throughout the day. Water refill stations can be found throughout campus and are marked on the campus map you will receive at check-in.

      • First aid can be found at Kittredge West. You can call the NOAC Hotline at 833-662-2272, Option 1 for Medical.

      • Arrowmen may not utilize the electric scooters and bikes available for rent. Please stick to official modes of transportation.

      • Drones are prohibited at NOAC 2024.

      • CU Boulder is a smoke-free campus, and alcohol and illicit drugs, including marijuana, are strictly prohibited by Scouting America. In particular, Arrowmen may not even enter any of the dispensaries on campus.

NOAC Security Adviser Marc Poulin models the NOAC Security uniforms.

Poulin shared that any member of his team is ready to help Arrowmen have a great conference.

“We’ll have gray polos and orange or green hats,” Poulin shared, “so we’re easy to find if you have any questions or concerns.”

Above all, Poulin stated that the NOAC 2024 security team is here to help you have a safe and enjoyable conference. In addition to your contingent leadership, you can report any safety or security concerns to any team member or by calling the NOAC Hotline at 833-662-2272, Option 2.
