Stepping Up Lodge Inductions

The Induction Academy is a new addition to the Inductions and Ceremonial Events (ICE) programming, put on by a team of skilled trainers. The Academy is a series of three sessions at NOAC, that started Tuesday, continues today and concludes tomorrow, that builds upon previous sessions to flesh out the induction process.

The first day of the Induction Academy covered an array of topics, from the different induction-related roles to the induction sequence itself, building upon the Inductions Handbook’s principles. These standards are a guideline to an ideal lodge induction sequence, that prioritizes the importance of the candidates experience.

All Arrowmen are encouraged to attend the Induction Academy, even if you missed the first day. The sessions are open to everybody regardless of skill level and you can easily get caught up on what you’ve missed to improve your local lodge’s induction ceremonies.

The sessions themselves are interactive and thought provoking, taking ideas from Polestar: Induction Leadership Training, and making them accessible to youth. “The Induction Academy provides actionable, applicable resources you can immediately implement in your lodge,” remarked Carter Perryman, Induction Academy Lead.

In addition to the Induction Academy, Arrowmen are invited to Seek New Heights at the Inductions Clinic Wednesday afternoon from 1:30pm to 4:30pm. Evan Smazal, the Introduction to Polestar trainer, said this is a great chance to get direct feedback on induction hurdles you may have. “The Inductions Clinic is a great way to address inductions hurdles with trained inductions leaders,” Smazal said.

Inductions and Ceremonial Events staff will also be putting on several other training sessions throughout the week. Each program is designed to elevate your lodge ceremonies to provide an impactful experience for candidates. Whether you want to develop your skills as a ceremonialist, dive deep on one of the ceremonial principals, or get new ideas from other lodges across the country, ICE has a program for you.

The ICE Committee and the Induction Academy staff hope to see each and every one of you at the Induction Academy today and tomorrow! Learn more through the schedule in the NOAC App.
